Traditional Hawaiian Dance I

This course offers an introduction to classic choreography in two styles of Hawai'ian dance: the ancient form (hula kahiko) and the contemporary style (hula auwana). We will explore the effect of pre-missionary era Hawai'ian history and culture on social protocols, and their relationships to the Hula. To enroll students must complete Introduction to Hawai'ian dance or consult with instructor.

Please read:  The first 45 Minutes will be lecture in PE 61. The second hour of the class will be Hawaiian dance practice in PE 60. To enroll students must complete Introduction to Hawai'ian dance or consult with instructor.
