C. G. Jung is known as the father of the New Age movement. But why? In this course, we will investigate this notion. Students will learn to understand key Jungian theories such as the Ego, Complexes, Archetypes, the Collective Unconscious, and the Self. Crucially, they will learn how these theories essentially coalesce around an intrinsically spiritual conception of the human psyche and why this vision differs so much from traditional Freudian theories. If Jung’s work is to be believed, the idea of a spiritual reality is not located outside of us but can rather only be found by “searching within.”
