Sailing 101: Introduction to Sailing

Introduction to basic sailing concepts and components, boating safety, and physics of sailing. Learn beginning skills such as tacking, jibing, reefing, and helming a sloop rigged sailboat. Understand the effects of wind direction and velocity. Learn effects of tides, weather and currents, and available resources. Learn about appropriate gear and clothing for comfort and safety. Spend four evenings in two-hour classroom sessions and four weekend two-hour sessions sailing on a 34' keel-boat.
